On the final day of the 2025 General Assembly, let us join our voices to affirm for all that “We, the people, have a right to participate in decisions that affect us.” That is THE DEMOCRACY PRINCIPLE, and we will not let it be sacrificed or ignored.
All citizens and advocacy groups are invited to come and bring your friends and family members! A valid photo ID is required to enter the Capitol Building. Parking is available on site.

The People's Town Hall by Gathering For Democracy

Congressman Andy Barr’s Constituents in the Sixth District are invited to express their questions and concerns about the recent proposals and developments in Washington - such as cuts to Medicaid, the firing of federal workers, access by unvetted individuals to American’s personal data, and more. Mr. Barr has been invited to this Town Hall to address these concerns. So far he has declined to attend, but hopefully he can be persuaded to change his mind. Be a Light For Democracy! In anticipation of the President’s Address to Congress on March 4, LWV of Lexington and our partners will host a community gathering bringing people together in reflection, action, and solidarity. This event will offer a peaceful and unified space to come together for the health of our democracy, the future of our nation, and the well-being of all its people. Plan to join us in downtown Lexington on Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM at the STAND: Kentucky Suffragist Monument. We will use the Public Park area directly in front of and to the side of the monument. We will respect private property, so please do not go up the steps towards the Fifth Third Bank Building, or down the steps to the sunken patio and fountain area.

Our Speaker, Sharon Murphy, is a native of Lexington with a B.A. in Political Science and a Philosophy minor from the University of Kentucky. She earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University. She has over five years of experience in public policy and community organizing. The expungement clinic is a free event where  people can get help with the legal process of removing a criminal conviction from public view. This clinic is sponsored by LWV of Lexington, in cooperation with Voices of Hope, Recovery Cafe Lexington, and Victory House Transitional Living. Canvass with LWV of Lexington on the Day of Action

Join LWV of Lexington to canvass on our Day of Action. We will be encouraging registered voters to go to the polls. We do this by raising interest in issues, offering information about early voting and about the two amendments on the ballot. You will receive training, support and a script. We will canvass in neighborhoods near the Central Library. Volunteers will receive a free tee shirt, lunch, and water. Register for a time slot that suits you 10:00 AM to Noon, or 12:30 to 2:30, on the Mobilize Platform HERE.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring your cell phone. Download the miniVan app beforehand if possible.
